Teddy is an 11 year old mixed breed weighing approximately 35 lbs, and he is looking for a very special kind of home. Teddy is a gentle, non aggressive boy with a sensitive soul. He struggles with severe anxiety, which means he needs an understanding and patient adopter who is committed to helping him feel safe and secure. While he may not be the kind of dog who adapts easily to change, Teddy has so much potential to thrive in the right environment. Teddy’s ideal home includes a calm and quiet household, a retired individual or someone who is home most of the time, no other animals, and no children in the home. He also needs someone who does not travel frequently, as Teddy does not do well with new caregivers. His adopter should be patient, compassionate, and willing to work through his anxiety. Teddy is currently on daily anxiety medication, which will need to be continued in his new home. The cost of this medication will be the responsibility of his adopter. If his new family wishes to explore managing his anxiety without medication, it is essential that any changes are done gradually and under veterinary guidance, as he would need to be safely tapered off over time.
