Please note: Adopters must be located within Canada.
We provide full veterinary care for all dogs and cats in our program and have a standard adoption fee of $500 (dogs) and $250 (cats), which helps cover medical expenses and supports our ongoing rescue efforts.
The adoption fee covers the animal's initial veterinary care, including a full veterinary examination, spay or neuter (unless medically contraindicated), core vaccinations, microchipping, comprehensive bloodwork, urinalysis, deworming, treatment for internal and external parasites as needed, and any additional medically necessary veterinary care.

Meet Taz! 10 yrs | 32 lbs | Terrier Jack Russel Mix Taz is a sweet 10-year-old, 32 lb gentleman looking for a loving home to spend his golden years. After losing the only person he had ever known, Taz found himself in a shelter before coming into foster care with Barely A Dog Rescue. Despite everything he has been through, his heart is still wide open and he has shown just how much love he has left to give. Taz is a wonderful companion who loves being close to his person. He is fully house-trained, quiet in the home, well-mannered, great on leash and an excellent passenger in the car. He enjoys a couple of shorter walks each day, exploring the backyard, playing with his favourite stuffed toy, Mr. Moose, and then curling up near his person to relax. Taz has lived peacefully with another dog in foster care, but he is definitely more of a people dog. He doesn’t seek out much interaction or play with other dogs, and because he spent most of his life as the only dog, we believe he would be happiest as the only pet in his forever home where he can soak up all the attention. For a senior gentleman, Taz still has lots of personality and playfulness! He loves tossing around Mr. Moose, going for walks and being part of whatever his person is doing. He isn’t looking for a home filled with nonstop adventure. He’s looking for companionship, consistency and someone who wants a loyal friend by their side. Taz does have a mild heart murmur related to mild mitral valve disease. It is not currently causing him any problems or requiring medication, but his veterinarian recommends monitoring it and completing a follow-up echocardiogram. He also has some clicking in one of his back legs that may be related to arthritis or an old knee issue, although it currently does not affect his mobility. Taz has already learned the important things in life. Now he just needs someone to share it with. And one very important condition: wherever Taz goes, Mr. Moose goes too! 🫎
Meet Loki! 4 yrs | 15 lbs | Domestic Shorthair Loki is our handsome domestic shorthair and resident mini black panther with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This funny little dude absolutely loves people, especially the ladies! He’s incredibly affectionate, curious, and always needs to know what you’re up to. Whether you’re cooking dinner, relaxing on the couch, or trying to get something done, you can expect Loki to be nearby supervising. Loki also has a very sweet and intuitive side. If you’re feeling under the weather, he seems to know and will happily curl up beside you or right on top of you to make sure you have some company. Food is one of Loki’s greatest loves, and mealtime is always an exciting event. When he’s not waiting for his next meal, he’s busy running the best bakery in town. His biscuit making skills are unmatched, and he’ll knead away like there’s no tomorrow. Loki is full of silly antics and is guaranteed to keep his future family laughing. He is FIV positive, so he is looking for a home where he can be the only cat or share his space with another FIV positive feline friend. Dogs are no problem for Loki! He currently lives with a dog and is perfectly comfortable sharing his home with a canine companion. If you’re looking for an affectionate, entertaining little panther who will keep you company, make you laugh, and supply an endless amount of freshly kneaded biscuits, Loki might just be your guy.
Meet Dolores! 16 yrs | 10 lb | Mixed Breed Dolores is a sweet 16-year-old mixed breed weighing just 10 lbs, but don’t let her age fool you! This spunky little senior still has plenty of personality and enjoys short walks, being carried along for errands, and relaxing on a patio with her people. At home, Dolores is incredibly easygoing. She spends most of her day snoozing in her cozy bed and does wonderfully when left alone, with no signs of separation anxiety. She currently lives peacefully with two cats and mostly ignores them! Dolores can be a little grumbly when something interrupts her beauty sleep or it’s time for her eye drops, but overall she’s a laid-back little lady. She’s even starting to discover how nice couch cuddles can be. Despite having no teeth, Dolores has a great appetite and especially loves soft, fish-flavoured treats. She would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a quiet, independent senior who still has a little pep in her step and lots of love left to give.
